Frequently Asked Question

1. What is the difference between the Revio and Onso grant?

The Revio grant is specifically designed for proposals that utilize the long-read sequencer, Revio, and leverage the HiFi sequencing technology. Opting for HiFi sequencing on the Revio system grants you access to tens of kilobases of long reads. This capability empowers you to achieve a truly complete assembly of complex genomes. Additionally, you can perform comprehensive variant calling with phasing and 5mC detection.

On the other hand, the Onso grant is intended for proposals that make use of the short-read sequencer, Onso, and the SBB chemistry which offers exceptional levels of accuracy and sensitivity. It's the ideal choice for those embarking on needle-in-the-haystack research projects, where precision is essential for success.

Examples of applications supported :

Revio Grant Onso Grant
Whole Genome Sequencing Cancer research (liquid biopsy)
RNA sequencing Gene editing research
Targeted sequencing Exam/Panels
Metagenomics Single Cell

2. How many recipients will be awarded?

Since the Revio and Onso grants span multiple countries within the Asia-Pacific region, we will select multiple winners based on the number of SMRT Cells/Flowcells required for their proposed projects.

3. What is the selection process for grant recipients?

The selection of grant recipients involves a meticulous evaluation of proposals by our team of scientists. Shortlisted proposals will undergo an interview session to gather additional details, following which the winners will be chosen.

4. How can I apply for these grants?

To apply for the grants, please use the following submission pages:

Revio Grant: https://programs.pacb.com/l/1652/2023-05-30/43ytdn
